I am in my last year of school (graduate ADN in 05/2005) and will starting a preceptorship in the spring. I would like to preceptor in OR. There are 2 hospitals in town and one offers only BSN students internships. The other hospital seems overloaded with students this year and a bit tired of us. Any ideas? I would to preceptor in Pueblo, CO if anyone has any ideas. thanks

I am kind of curious why the one only allows BSN students in the program? Kind of discriminating.

As a new grad you will cross many hurdles and one of them is preceptorship. I say, if one hospital will take you in the OR you would be wise to take them up on it.....nellie

Hey, did you find a preceptor and how did it go? sorry I have been out of this site for awhile.
Pueblo or rn
I will note also that the OR with the preceptorship program is under new management. They are currently working on opening the program to include RN students. The preceptorship program is awesome and quite an opportunity for those who wish to go into OR nursing. It ends up being around a two year orientation into the OR. There are generally many applications into the postion/opportunity to be paid while learning.
This program is much different than the end of school few week preceptorship. We do both.
