You can join the AACN, subscribe to critical care nursing journals, and read books.

I just got the AACN Essentials of Critical Care Nursing and The ICU Book by Paul Marino. I like them both.

Icufaqs.org is a great site as well.

You can also search the web for videos of procedures and lectures, go to conferences, and pick the brains of the experienced nurses you work with.

And, of course, you can learn things here at allnurses.

Youtube is also a great resource if you are bored at home.

If you are really curious about learning more, don't be afraid to subscribe to medical journals. One big one is the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. There's a lot of cool stuff on disease processes and new treatment. I read the critical care nursing journal, but many times, it's filled with nonsense. Anything that says "Safety process implementation among nurses within a generation spectrum," or " Evaluation overview of diverse pt populations requiring healing care" is skipped over by me. It's sounds like some PhD is trying to keep up their publishing quota. There are nursing articles that talk about hypertension, or pulmonary edema, which can be quite good, but they can be very limited in what they say medically. But the medical journals, that's the good stuff. You should check it out.

You can subscribe to the CDC. They have three magazines and it's free.

The best way is to learn what are the most common diagnosis on your ICU and search nursing articles about it. Learn the basics and then go from there. It's easier to centralized your learning to what you need right now before branching out.
