section 3 MHA

Hello all

My first post here :-)

I have tried to google the answer to my question but didn't find anything usefull, so i thought i'd ask some 'colleagues' :D

I am named nurse of a patient who is sectioned under the mental health act (section 3). Today is the tribunal, and my manager has just rung me to ask me if i would be attending - now my question is: is the presence of the named nurse mandatory in a tribunal? If so i wasnt informed of this before - i am currently on night shifts and only found out last friday about the date for this hearing... so i told her i wouldn't be attending. Just would like to know what the named nurse has to attend for future reference.

Thanks for all that took the time to read my question and think of an answer :-)
