Second-Degree BSN

I have a few questions. I am a 23 year old Second-Degree BSN student. I currently have a B.S. in Biology and will have a BSN in May 2009 as I only have Fall and Spring semester left. I am in between Army and the Navy Reserves right now. My question is when should I go to speak with a recruiter as I noticed that the process is very long from reading other post's. Should I talk to a recruiter around January and begin the paperwork, or do I have to have my RN license first after I take the NCLEX? Also, I am in a BSN/MSN program meaning when I'm finished the BSN (Phase I) that I can continue right into my MSN (Phase II). So my question is should I go into the NG where I can go to a state school for free, or into the Reserves for LRP because I have loans from both degrees? Thanks!!! So confused!!!:banghead:

I'm not sure I can answer all of your questions, but typically the Army doesn't pay for combined programs. They pay for either BSN or entry-level MSN. Advanced MSN work is something that could be requested after you are already on active duty. You do not have to have graduated or taken the NCLEX or be licensed to speak to a recruiter. In fact, many student nurses contract and get the Army to pay for their program, rather than hope that loan repayment will still be available when they graduate. I'd say you should speak to a health care recruiter from both services now and find out wh your options are. Good luck!

Thanks!!! Will they pay for school if I only have 8 months left? I think by the time I finish the paperwork I will be finished school. I should have clarified when I said pay for my Master's. I meant that the Army National Guard in my state doesn't pay for your Master's, but you are allowed to go to State schools for free and the school that I am attending now is a NJ state school. So I was thinking about joining the NJ Army NG that way I can continue my Master's minus paying for my tution just would have to cover fees and books. Thanks for your response. I will talk to a recruiter for the NG. Do I have to find a Healthcare recruiter, or can I talk to any NG recruiter? Thanks!!!
