Scott and White Internship

Hi does anyone have any information on applying to the Graduate nurse internship? I am extremely interested in applying. I have a few questions for any one that is active

I don't start working for another 2 weeks, unfortunately... I'd suggest applying then if you change your mind, you could always decline any interviews

Hi Besaangel! Thanks for responding.

Congrats to you on your internship. Which unit will you be training on?

I'm currently an Lpn in a bridge program. I was torn between applying for a nurse tech position or an LVN position to utilize more skills. What is your background?

Thank you. I'm actually a new grad (ADN) nurse.

I'll be on 7s, I believe (med surg).

If I were you, I'd apply for both category of jobs. I just saw them post about needing LVN/LPNs yesterday so Id give it a go.

Hi,

is baylor scott and white graduate nurse program hire ADN? I just graduated with my ADN and I just applied to all of the graduate nurse position on the website.

How long does it take for them to offer you an interview?

Hi besaangel

I'd just like to know if the medsurg internship your in requires a contract or no?

That's a great question @phoebee13. I'm curious as well.

Also, will they offer an internship along with the tuition reimbursement?

I did a M/S internship on 7N in 2010 then worked there for a year. I absolutely hated M/S; I am now in ICU nurse & love it. The 7N manager at that time was awful, but I learned a tremendous amount from some of the well-experienced nurses there.

Now that I have some other hospitals to compare S&W to, I can say that S&W is an organized system in regard to policies & procedures which is important to a new grad.

At that time, the M/S internship was 10-14 weeks. The length depended on individual nurse ability. I did 10 weeks and was prepared; but I saw others do longer. There was no grief if more time was needed.

Be prepared, Temple is an unexciting small town.

Did you have a contract? I am from dallas and would like to transfer out after a year, really dont want medsurg as well but this is the only offer I had as of now.

It's not a true employment contract. You sign a contract agreeing to repay the value of the internship if you don't stay for 1 year.

Exactly; there really isnt any contract. Also, I am an ADN grad and perhaps only 1/6 of our entire new nurse grad population at orientation had BSNs...
