Scope of work

Here is a question for the practicing CRNAs. Once you graduate with your CRNA cert, are you ever asked to perform "nursing duties" if the pre/post op is shorthanded? Or are you expected to just practice the specialty that you have received?

This question was asked just a few threads ago but... The answer is no, there is really no nursing role role for a CRNA other than passing gas. In our OR, if you are not doing cases you are seeing pre-ops, doing post-ops, doing epidurals in L&D, giving breaks, maybe doing paperwork. If there really isn't anything going on like yesterday, I just read. BTW, I was the sole anesthesia prover in the whole shop for a couple of hours, spooky feeling, I studied airway stuff just to ward off evil spirits.
