Schooling for Nursing

Published

Hello. I'm not 100 percent on what area this should go in, but I figured I'd go for it.

Im 20, turning 21 this year, male, and have been doing a lot of thinking about what I am going to do with my life. I've been looking into different schooling and career options, and tried to think of what type of job would suit me. I have decided I want to attend our Community College here and enroll in the Nursing program. They do a 2 year program where you can test after the first year to get your LPN license, but I hope to go beyond that and go for RN or even beyond that still. I'm just curious, for those who have been through it all, what is the schooling for Nursing like? As in how difficult is it juggling the type of school work you get, with say a fulltime job and everything else?

Hi and welcome,

I think the community college route is an excellent choice. I did the LPN then RN then BSN route and it worked well for me. Nursing school is a lot of material. I didn't think it was too complicated just a lot of volume so you need to stay on top of your studies. Playing catch-up isn't really an option. Most of my classmates did work at least part-time. I did about 30 hours a week while in LPN and RN school and 50+ hours a week while getting my BSN. Good luck!
