School nursing.

Hi my name is Ashley and I'm a health assistant at an Elementry school. Due to budget cuts the school nurse is only here about 2 to 3 days a week, so the other days I'm considered the school nurse. I'm very new at my job and want to try to be the best assistant school nurse as possible. Does anyone possibly have some tricks, hints, or words of encouragement for me. Thank you:loveya:

For injuries, if you have any concerns at all always call the parent. Better to let them know and let them make the decision on whether or not to take to DR. than for student to get home and end up with a broken bone.

Don't be afraid to say I don't know and ask for help.

Never do more that you are allowed to do (give medication etc.)

School nursing is a fun job. Good luck.
