Scheduling Question (Phila)

I am currently working as a tech while in nursing school (I graduate May 08.) I work every other weekend night (11-7:30am) and not only do I HATE night shift (which I initally thought would love) but I'm not too crazy about working weekends. I miss my friends who all work regular 9-5 Mon-Fri jobs. I understand that one of the cons of nursing is the schedule and I know I have to get adjusted to that because as a new nurse I'm most likely going to have to work the crappy hours first and work my way up. But I was just wondering, if you work full time in a hospital in the Phila area what are the weekend requirements usually? I guess it's up to the nurse manager but are any hospitals in particular better than others? For some reason I thought it was common to do every 3rd w/e and I really wouldn't mind that. Also do you all think I'll be able to find a job right after graduation working the day shift? I have decided I would rather work on a floor that I hate and work days then work nights on a floor that I love. Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

you should not work on a floor that you hate just for days...that is probably the worst thing you can do....i am a new grad working nights....day shift if very hard to find for new grads...my friends who did get day shift jobs externed or already work on the floor as a student. I know Jeff works every third weekend for sure...thats where my freinds work...and yea i agree, working weekends is the worst.....
