Scared!!!

I am scheduled to graduate this May, but I am terrified. I just purchased a Kaplan NCLEX prep book and oh my gosh! I am not getting many of the answers correct in the prep book. I am really upset. This is a second career for me. I'm 50 years old. Should I have not done this at this stage of my life? How do I even pass the boards?! If by some chance I pass, how do I become a nurse if I don't know enough? What if I hurt someone?! Is any of this normal? I could really use some guidance...

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Hugs! I think those are all normal fears. At least you're starting now with the studying, and you can work on what you need to in order to do well on the NCLEX. Go through the NCLEX forum- I'm sure you'll get a lot of support on that part there.

I think ALL new nurses worry that we'll screw up, forget something, hurt someone. If you were totally confident that you knew everything, THAT would be more concerning!

Look for new grad programs, residency, etc. Something where you'll be with a preceptor who can help you get your feet wet as a nurse.

Good luck!!
