Scalp wound

Im a new grad (well about 7mo) and have been working in hh for about that long. I need advice/tips etc on a pt of mine with about 7 scalp lesions. He is a vet and the hospital he goes to just continue giving him an abx ointment to apply with a tegaderm dressing over that. This has been ongoing for a year! They do cultures and change ointments but these wounds do no heal. Im at a loss of what to do. The pt also has dementia and is constantly itching off any scabs that form but the pcg are really good about watching him and preventing this but these things dont go away. I just reffered them to a different doctor which is probably not something I should have done but I dont feel he is getting the care he needs obviously if these lesions have been there a year. Any thoughts, tips??

    Since any new treatment regimen is going to require a doctor's order, I don't see how you could have done any better than to refer the patient to another doctor. Hope a new doctor is able to help.
