San Jac Spring 2019

Published

Is anyone applying for the San Jac ADN prgram that starts in Jan 2019? I am a bit nervous. This is going to be my first time applying for nursing school. Anybody know how competitive San Jac's program is in comparison to Lonestar. I hear more people talk about going/applying there. Lets start a discussion for those applying so we can stay in the loop about what's going on through this process.

In my opinion San Jac's program is not as competitive as Lone Star's nursing program. San Jac is not that big of a community college system so they will not have as many applicants as Lone Star has. I hear that both schools have really great programs so I would apply to both. The north and central campus have posted their application dates and information meeting times. Lone Star's deadline to apply ends Friday, September 7, 2018 at 4 p.m. Good luck to you!

I was going to ask why did you choose San Jac over Lone Star. I move to Houston permanently next month and applied to the lvn prog at San Jac and was wanting to get info of students that are attending the nursing program. I tried to PM you, but I don't have enough posts.

Unfortunately I missed the deadline to apply to lone star for the Fall 2018 start. Instead of waiting another semester to apply to Lone Star, I decided to apply to other schools. Fortunately I was accepted into San Jac.

Thank you for responding! I am applying for Lonestar as well. I figured San Jac was less comepetitve, I just didn't know why. I take my HESI tomorrow. Praying I do well, as I really want to start in the Spring. Good luck to you with classes starting in a few days. Also, do you know if San Jac gives additional points for students who already have a bachelors?

No extra points for having a bachelor's; I wish because I have a bachelor's. You get points for prereqs, overall gpa, and Hesi score. Good luck on your exam; let me know how it goes!

I passed my HESI!!!!!! I am so excited. I took AP2 and a psychology class in the midst of studying for this exam so I really couldn't study the way I would've liked. I did sooooo much better than I anticipated to do. My average score was 86%. The test really isn't as bad as I thought it was. I know if I would've had the time to study more I could've done a whole lot better. I'm satisfied with my scores. Now I can start my applications. Does anyone know how San Jac does scoring for classes the are in progress?

Congrats on passing the Hesi; your score is definitely competitive! San Jac only allows you to have one of the required courses in progress when you apply. Once you have received a grade for the in progress course, you will have to resubmit your transcript.
