Samford Info

I have an interview at Samford in August. I am very nervous, as this is my first interview. Has anyone attended Samford/interviewed there? Where are the clinicals held? How is the faculty, program in general, etc.? I would like some information so I can better prepare myself for the interview. Thank you to anyone willing to help!

I'm also interviewing at Samford and don't know anything about the interview. I know the program is fairly new. I've heard the faculty is extremely nice and I know the campus is beautiful:) The first year is completely didactic, as far as I know. I'm not sure about the clinicals. Don't feel too bad about being nervous...you're not the only one:D

Mine is the 16th

Thank you Brian. I will be pulling and praying for you as well

I can't say specifically, but I got my BSN from UAB and actually met some Samford SRNAs while observing in the OR...so, I would assume you will use many if not all of the hospitals in the Bham area; some of which include University Hospital, St Vincent's (I would say these two are the biggest hospitals, with UAB being a level I trauma); then there are many others: Carraway Methodist, Brookwood, Medical Center East, and I know there are more that I don't know the names of (not a Bham resident). Maybe google for Birmingham hospitals...that will give you a pretty good idea. :)

i have an interview the 14th at samford. After talking to several srna's from samford they have said that the interview was basically a meet and greet. No clinical questions, however this will be the first class accepted from the new director, who I believe is from Duke. I saw that Duke also has a meet and greet interview process. hope that helps. good luck to everyone

Thank you for the info and good luck to you too! It's just around the corner, and I'm getting the jitters!

A buddy of mine just started Samford this past June. First semester under his belt, he is very much enjoying being at Samford. When he interviewed, it was with four different individuals. He met each one seperately in their offices and they did ask him clinical questions. However, the directorship (as someone said) changed since then so I dont know how that will affect the interview process if at all. He did say it was laid back, low key. I didnt apply there. They changed a requirement at the last min and I wasnt going to chase after one class in a mad rush to apply. That being said, Samford is an excellent school. I did the BSN bridge there and I had a great experience there. As for clinical sites, B'ham has several hospitals but UAB has most of the clinical sites locked. I was told by one student a downfall to Samford was having to travel to some of his clinical sites. But then I dont know what his idea of travel is either? Good luck you guys! :)

I interview tomorrow at Samford and have heard the same as all of you. Good luck to all of us!
