Salem, OR Internship Program Summer 2013

Hello All,

This is my second time applying for the new graduate internship program at Salem Hospital. I attended my nursing school out of state and moved back to pursue my nursing career. I am finding it challenging with my lack of connections here (seeing as my clinicals and preceptorships were out of state) to even get an interview. Has anyone else applied for the summer program and received a call yet? For those of you who have already participated in the internship program at Salem Hospital, what did you do to get a interview! Any advice would be helpful!

    Hi, I'm graduating from OHSU Ashland campus this Friday. I applied to Salem (L&D) and just received a call on Friday to schedule an interview for this week. Since I live in Southern Oregon, I haven't had any rotations through Salem. The lady on the phone was most interested in all the clinical time I've spent in maternal/child health. So, it doesn't seem to be as important that you're at their hospital as much as it is that you emphasize your time spent in the unit you're interested in on your résumé (at least to get an interview).     I heard back today for a 10-15 min interview for monday 6/17 in critical care.

    A classmate of mine was told that those selected for a second interview should expect to hear something back by the end of this week.

    A friend of mine did her 2nd interview for ED yesterday. I didn't hear back from ED, so I'm guessing I won't at this point. Adult health/med-surg is supposed to hear back at the end of this week. Critical care is supposed to hear starting at the end of last week. The waiting is so hard!

    I heard from a reliable source that OR second rounds / callbacks won't happen for a couple of weeks. Med-surg, critical care offers started going out yesterday.
