Salary for....

Published

Specializes in ICU, Home health, Peds, School Nursing.

a community (elderly) based case manager.

It depends on several things...

1. Are you going to the clients' homes, or are they coming to you in an office setting?

2. What services are you providing?

3. Where are you located (ie. what state)?

4. Is this for an employer, or do you plan to be self-employed?

5. What is your degree? And do you have any additional credentialing (ie. CCM, etc)?

All of these things will impact your salary.

I'm in Wisconsin. I believe that field care managers (going to clients' homes) working for an employer make between $28-38 per hour.

If you're planning to start a business and be self-employed providing care management services (which is what I do), you could bill for between $90-130 per hour. Most businesses/agencies that are providing care management services in Wisconsin charge around $100-110 an hour.

I hope this helps to answer your questions. :)

That is good. How did you start your business. I wonder if I can start it in Texas. Thank you.

It took a lot of research - determining whether or not there's a market for the services I wanted to provide, developing a business plan, learning how to start a business in my state, etc (...the list goes on).

It's important to have plenty of experience in the field prior to making this transition, and also to be extremely dedicated because it takes a lot of time and hard work. When you own your own business, you're everything - the secretary, marketing department, web designer, consultant, accountant, book keeper, etc.

Go to your state's website to find information on starting a business in your state. (I believe it's http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/related.shtml.)

Basically, you'll have to do research specific to your area to determine the need and figure out what you need to do to get a business started in your state. I hope this helps.

Best of luck to you!
