Salary inquiry

Published

Hello.

I have been an NP for 4 years now. I work only part time (24 hours/week). My practice hired a Nephrologist last year and now they have sent me for training to make Dialysis rounds 3 times/month @ 2 clinics. Colleagues have informed me that I should negotiate a specialty "rate" for this work since it is above and beyond what I am doing now. Does anyone have any experience with how they are paid for Dialysis rounds???

Thanks,

Leah

How weird - I live in central IL and the dialysis rounding is my primary function! If you would like, please PM me and I would be glad to discuss the details. With Medicare requiring the four visits/month while pts are ON dialysis, it is pretty lucrative.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am in a nearby suburb of Chicago. Recently attended the NKF conference this spring. Learned alot! Still learning. The docs talk about everything except billing, of course. I did get something in my mailbox from our billing service indicating what the Medicare reimbursement was for the visits! I had no idea. He also is an area with private insurance payors as well.

Would love to hear from you. Let me know if I am doing something wrong, but I could not locate the PM contact for you. I am new at this forum thing!

Thanks!

thanks for the PM-glad I was able to access this/ however I was not able to respond --no contact info.

what conference were you referring to?
