hello,
I recently complete my diploma as A Registered Practical Nurse and I am looking into become an Rn here in Canada. I know here in Ontario you can complete the program in 3 years and then have your BSCN. My question is can I complete it faster. I am willing to study in the US but I don't have a clue as to which schools will accept my diploma and how I can go about continuing. Can anybody help me or give me some advice.

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) I believe is equaivalent to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) here in the US. To bridge over to a Registered Nurse, after getting a n LPN license, you would first need to take pre-requisites, mainly Anatomy and Physiology I & II, and Microbiology, you might also need other classes like English, American Govt., Human Growth and Development, History, etc. All this would take about a year. After that you can apply for an associate degree program which would take a year (3 semesters including summer) to complete.
So you would need about 2 years to complete the pre-requisites and the two year degree nursing program.
If you then decide to get a bachelors, it would take another year.
Additionally, you can google the Board of Nursing for whichever state you are interested in to find the list of schools and then you can look at each schools requirement.
Hope this helps!
