Roanoke Area

Hello, I am from the Roanoke area but have been away for many years. My husband is in the Army and we have about 2 years left of service before he retires. I am going to apply to a ADN program our last duty station in Alabama. We are trying to decide where to move after he retires and assuming I get into nursing school and finish successfully. I am thinking positive though. We are thinking of returning to the Roanoke area to buy a home and settle. Do any of you work in the area or have, and can give me an idea of salary for new RNs? I have noticed the cost of homes in the Roanoke and Salem area have sky rocketed since I was there in the early 90s. My husband is from the Atlanta area and I really dont want to settle there. Too much crime and traffic. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Amy
