I just got the bad news that I have hit the 150% rule. I have been going to school on and off for the past 5 years. I started out wanting to become a special ed teacher and discovered nursing. anyway--I stopped going in 2011 and then started back up in 2014-my GPA went from a 1.9 to a now 3.1. I wanted to go through the nursing program there because they offered a night/weekend program. I don't know of any other school that offers a night and weekend program. Just to put the icing on the cake(or however its said) I got fired from my job also.
I feel like such a loser. My academic adviser suggested I switch my degree so I could get some kind of associates, so I switched it to social science(only one I could get close to science). They will only award me one more semester and I needed two more sciences to get my applied science so I couldn't even get that.
So now I am trying to regroup. I don't have a job, maybe I can get a night job somewhere and then I would have more opportunity for day programs? I went and spoke to an admissions person at one of those for-profit schools- they are so expensive and only regionally accredited(not sure how good/bad that is after I get my RN license)
I have been a member for a couple years now and really need some pep-up, keep your chin high talk
thanks everyone

But how are you going to finance a for profit school if you can't finance one more class for an Associate's? Can you get federal student loans and not rely solely on grants?
The financial aid office told me I can transfer to a four year college or another community college--I just can't continue at their school--or so thats how I understood it.

If youve reached the 150% cut off, that means you have taken 50% amount of units over what is required for an associated. Basically, an associates is roughly 60 units for most and you have taken 90 unit or more. The government is not going to continue to pay for you to take more and more classes, even if you havent reached the loan limit yet. When that happens, you can file an appeal each semester to continue to recieve financial aid, but I just dont see them approving it for 6+ semesters in order for you to finish.
If you havent reached 150% of a BSN degree (120 units would be the rough amount of units for that) then you can transfer to a university to complete your degree. They can sometimes be more competitive though and are more expensive.
Get a job and make payment arrangements to pay for your classes. Most schools will split the cost of the semester into 4-6 payments to be made over the semester. I get that you made a career change midway through your educational path. There is nothing wrong with that. But there is a limit to how much Uncle Sam will pay for.
I'm not getting any grants--I have unsubsidized loans that are accruing interest--I asked if I could pay out of pocket so I could at least get my associates in applied science, FA told me I couldn't even do that.
Update: I had a meeting with the dean and she told me that although I can't receive any financial aid---I can pay out of pocket. That aleast is an option so I was happy, I'll have 38 credits to pay for out of pocket plus books and uniform---IF I get into the program--which I have been working so so hard to make sure I am competitive.i asked her if I could get scholarships and she wasn't sure---anyone know? She said if they weren't federal scholarships she didn't see why not

If they aren't federal I do believe you can get scholarships, but I don't think they school will give you any. I'd start applying through legit websites like Fastweb. Also see if you have any local scholarship foundations? Maybe your city or county has one? Talk to your employer to see if they offer anything.
