RN schools

Published

I've got a BA in an unrelated field, so I'm not interested in getting a BSN at this point, Just my RN.

Does anyone know of a good school in Orange County, CA or Austin, TX which has a part or full time RN program? Do they all have the prereq's, or do any of them allow you to take them in the program?

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

West Coast University has 3 campuses in SoCal that include all the prereqs, but the tuition is extremely expensive. Galen is a school in San Antonio with a private RN program that includes all prereqs.

My advice would be not to rule out BSN programs too quickly. I found that many Universities offer BSN programs for people that already hold BAs that are actually quicker than the ADN programs.

Austin, of course, has UT. I'm sure there is a community college associated with a university of that size as well.

Ever think about Arizona? They'll cover the entire cost of tuition if you commit to a couple of years working. Not bad...

I did think of UT at Austin, but theirs is a alternative entry MSN program for BA holders. Otherwise, you're starting from scratch for the BSN program. But I do like the school...

I haven't considered AZ. Which program would you recommend??? :yeah:

I'd try U of A in Tucson. Tucson is a pretty nice town, very livable. And the medical center associated with the university is a level 1 trauma, magnet hospital.

This link has some details about the program as well as the waved tuition.

Good luck!

This is great info. I can't seem to get around the prerequisite courses! So hard to take while working full time and mothering 2 little ones!
