I currently have an associate's degree in nursing. My goal is to obtain a Masters degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
I found a program that doesn't require a lot of additional classes at Capella University to obtain my BSN online.
My question - do a lot of universities recognize Capella and allow transfer of credits when I'm ready to go into psych NP school? Do most universities masters programs look at specific course work ? For example I do not have a microbilogy with lab course. Many bsn programs require this (capella does not) but am i just postponing the inevitable and should i expect the Masters program to require it or do they look at the degree as a whole and not at its individual parts?
Thanks in advance.

Capella is a regionally accredited institution (accredited by the higher learning commission), which means that in terms of getting accepted into a Master's program you should have the minimum requirements. In general, classes/credits from an undergraduate degree won't transfer into a master's, but as you mentioned there may be certain pre-requisites that some Masters programs are looking for. I'm just getting back into nursing school, so I don't know what an overall consensus is for masters programs yet, but I did work as an enrollment advisor for an online college, so I know the accreditation part can often be confusing, especially the difference between school accreditation and also with nursing accreditation.
