RN program with family

I will be finishing with an LPN program at the local community college and taking my boards this summer. The program that I am currently in is offered on the nights/weekends. This has made it very convienent for me as a mom with two small children.

I have been accepted to a day program starting in September 2006. I will finish with an ADN in May of 2007. If I want to continue on the night/weekend route that will not end until May 2008. That is a whole year and I am already 30 years old! However, with the demands of my life currently I am not sure that I could do well in the day program. The material is presented at a much faster pace this way.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what route I should take? What has worked for some of you when trying to "juggle" it all?

I feel if you have done well with the evening program you should continue with that schedule. Don't fix whats not broken. Its okay to take an extra year, its worth it. You can do your program stress free.

I am also taking the long route when I originally was trying for the RN program but it turns out that I will have to take the LPN route then bridge, this will add an additional year to my school adventure/experience/stress but in the end it will be all worth it.

I have a friend who was attending an evening program - not nurse related- and she decided to attend the day program and she did horrible. She has small children and of course when they would get a little cold here and there, she would have to take them during the day to the doctors, and all of the other appointments are usually during the day, so ended up missing classes and wham she ended the semester with very poor grades, and we are talking about a straight A student here. I don't know what your support system is during the day, but if you are doing well and managing during the night, I would just leave it at is. IMHO.
