RN Coding

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am an RN with six years experience. Most of that has been in the hospital with 8 months of it with hospice. While I was working at hospice, I got experience working with ICD-10 codes. Recently I have playing with the idea of trying to work from home as a medical coder. I have no idea how to get into this career. I am licensed in Arkansas. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to start? Thank you very much.

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

My cousin who is a coder tells me that you have to actually study coding and pass the licensing exam. She's in Indiana. I don't know if that helps.
