RN to BSN

Published

I'm currently thinking of taking online classes for RN to BSN. Who has best program?

Specializes in Medical-Surgical/Float Pool/Stepdown.

Check out the WGU forum...wish I had known about the school when I did my RN to BSN...

Specializes in Nursing Professional Development.

There is no "best" one for everyone as people have different preferences. What exactly are you looking for in a school?

1. Academic rigor and respectability?

2. Mentorship by faculty?

3. Availability of educational opportunities (that help your career) outside of just the classes?

4. Low cost?

5. Quick?

6. Easy? (low rigor and respectability)

7. Easily accessible help with assignments and projects?

etc.

Some people want academically rigorous programs that are highly respected that will help them get into a good grad school. Others want the simplest, cheapest way to get the letters BSN after their and do not care about the quality of the program itself. Some people hate exams and would rather write lots of papers instead. Other people hate writing papers and would rather take more tests. Some people benefit by attending a program for which they have a friend who just graduated and who can guide them along a bit. Others want to be able to easily arrange meetings with their instructors (either online or on campus) in case they run into a problem and need help. etc. etc. etc.

So ... what characteristics are most important to you?
