RN to BSN completion programs

Looking to start a RN to BSN completion program. What school would you recommend? Hoping for online only, reasonable tuition, and completion time 18 months or less.

Each program has its benefits and drawbacks, but affordable online RN-to-BSN programs are offered at multiple schools.

Ohio University (limited to people in a few select states), the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the University of Texas at Arlington, Fort Hays State University (the cheapest at $182 per credit), and Western Governors University (flat rate tuition pricing, but grading is on a pass/fail basis only) all offer online RN-to-BSN programs.

I highly recommend getting your transcripts pre-evaluted (at no cost) so you can accurately compare programs. Also check accreditation and student feedback. Grand Canyon will do this and break down plan of study through graduation, financial assistance, exact course curriculum, anticipated graduation date. They also assign a team to support you through graduation, not just getting you to enroll. Excellent graduation rates!

This is wonderful information, but the OP is looking for an affordable program. Grand Canyon University's online RN-to-BSN degree completion program doesn't even make the top ten as far as affordable tuition is concerned.

At $465 per credit hour I find that difficult to believe. Again, a free pre-evaluation will reveal the individual's exact cost, transfer credits accepted, exact curriculum, financial assistance, available scholarships, responsible borrowing counseling, and any employer discount partnerships (of which there are many) that apply. Total transparency to let students know in advance what this 14 month program involves. An educated consumer is the best student. You wouldn't buy the first car on the lot without doing your research first. How much more important is your education? And why pay an application fee and transcript fees just to be able to compare programs?

Fort Hays State U. RN-to-BSN program: $182/credit hour

U. of Texas at Arlington RN-to-BSN program: $257/credit hour

Ohio University RN-to-BSN program: $243/credit hour

U. of Louisiana at Lafayette RN-to-BSN: $293/credit hour

Western Governors RN-to-BSN: $3250 per six month term; 1 to 2 terms to complete

Grantham University RN-to-BSN program: $265/credit hour

Thank you so much for the information. That is exactly the type of information I like to provide. No one school fits all. Thanks again.

I'm currently exploring WGU and also Notre Dame College online, which is under $300 per credit. I plan to have my transcripts evaluated by three or four colleges and decide from there. I also discovered that Chico State delivers their BSN program online. I'll be moving back to California within the year so I am just starting to look at this program as well.

Very wise of you. You should be able to get all your info upfront free of charge. A copy of your in officials will suffice. The Colleges will pay for your officials for you. Price per credit hour varies so you need to get in writing # transfer credit received, number of credits to complete, exact curriculum with classes and all costs for program. Congrats on starting the process!

Thank you. All the best to you in your endeavor as well!
