I am currently in LPN school and planning to continue on and get my ASN as soon as possible. I am already a scrub tech and have also had some other college courses when I was majoring in education. My question is......once I finish and have my ASN degree, what other courses will I need to get my BSN? I am shooting for nurse anesthetist and I MAY already have taken some of the courses needed. Trying not to drag this out any longer and wonder if I can take any of the the BSN courses at the same time (such as chemistry) while I am getting my ASN degree, which will basically just be one course a semester at night. I was think someone told me once there were only 5 other courses needed to complete my BSN. How do I find out what courses those are??? I am hoping I am further along than I think!

You can definitely take courses towards your BSN while working on your ASN, just make sure you print a stars guide for reference. There are quite a few more general courses you will need for the BSN like eng 102, mth 110 or 112, a 6 hr sequence in lit, PHL 206, 1 fine arts class, 2 chem classes, 1 history, soc 200, 2 computer classes, and a statistics class...I think (I hope) that's about it lol. I had no idea how many courses I would need for the BSN until recently and I feel like pulling my hair out! Plus I think the actual nursing portion of the bridge program is 3 semesters long. You can check any university's nursing website and the core requirements will be listed. BSN takes somewhere around 125 credit hrs. Hope this helps and good luck!

You need to pull up the STARS course list for the school you plan to get your BSN from. They are not all the same. For example, U of A requires inorganic and organic chemistry where UAB only requires inorganic chemistry. UAB will accept BIO 103 as your additional science w/lab.
