Rivier College Fall 2006

U.S.A. New Hampshire

Hello! I just have a question regarding entrance into Rivier. I am currently high on the waiting list for entrance into the Fall A.S./Nursing program. I am a non-traditional student. I've already received a letter stating that I am awaiting acceptance into the program since it is currently filled. I have been told by reps from the college that they've been able to accommodate everyone on the waiting list for the last couple of years. I would like to know if there is anyone out here from Rivier who can tell me what happens when you do get acceptance. I've read some war stories on these boards about pre-requisites and co-requisites, yet I've never been told by anyone at the college that I would have to take any pre-reqs prior to taking the Nursing Fundamentals course. Are there any Rivier nursing students who just entered the program and took A&PI, General Psychology, the writing course and Nursing Fundamentals all in the Fall semester? Or did you have to take something else prior to entrance into the Nursing Fundamentals course? I am all confused about this one aspect and any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm anxious as it is awaiting to hear if there is an opening. I've also scheduled a doctor's appt. to get all the immunizations and titers out of the way, as well as the CPR through the Red cross so that I will be ready to go when/if they call me at the last minute. Thanks for any info.

Hello

I don't know anything about getting accepted into Rivier's nursing program, but I can tell you you can take A&P, Psych, Micro, etc without being accepted into the nursing program. These are the classes that people usually refer to as prereq's.

I don't know what your financial standing is...if you have aid, loans or whatever, but I'm taking classes at the technical college in Manchester b/c they're so much cheaper. You can do that while you're waiting for acceptance, then transfer the credits...or you can just take those classes at Rivier, and apply them to the program later.

Good luck!
