Richmond

Published

Hello,

I'm looking at relocating after graduation and I was looking for information about Richmond and specifically VCU. I want to go into Critical Care (or possibly ER/Trauma) and then eventually I'd like to look at pursuing CRNA. Any info about the city and specifically the hospital would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

bryan

HI. I am in the same boat as you. I am from NYC but I graduate in may 2006 and I am planning to move to Richmond after graduation. I want to attend VCU because they have a really good CRNA program. It was rated as the #1 CRNA school in the U.S..but that was in 2001. I dont know what it rates now. I have alot of family in Richmond and I heard that if you work at Chippenham hospital they will pay for your masters degree at VCU because they are an affiliate. But I dont know how true that is. But Richmond is a beautiful area. The only thing I am concerned about is the pay. I know that you can get a nice apartment for about $700-$850, which is not bad because most are gated community town houses with a pool and your own parking space. But I come from a big city with good pay. But I think the quality of life is better in Richmond. The cost of living is so much cheaper. But if I move to Richmond I will be taking on a $15,000 pay cut. But it works out great I finally realized. Good Luck. :wink2:

Check out Richmond.com if you're interested in the city. It's a small city. After living in DC, it's kinda funny that richmond considers itself a big city, but it's nice.
