Returning RN

Hi everyone! I am currently taking an on-line RN refresher course that also has a 120 hour precepted clinical locally. I have been out of nursing for 8 years while raising kiddos. My confidence is ZERO!!!! I feel as though I need to complete nursing school all over. For those of you who have gone through tis already, do you have any words of wisdom??

Thanks in advance!

Just a shameless self promotional bump:coollook:

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Laurie,

Just to let you know you are not alone! I am going to be 49 in October, and have not worked since my oldest was born in 1999. I also am taking an online refresher, and have my clinical (180 hrs) lined up with a school nurse for Sept.

I am having some really awful dreams . . . like I forgot to show up for orientation, when in reality, there is no orientation. I just need to show up the first day of school!

Taking the online theory portion has been a confidence booster of sorts . . . found I can still do a care plan and teaching plan . . . can still write an ethics paper....

But I know I will be a wreck those first days. On the otherhand, I need to remember that I was a good nurse when working, and experience means something. I recently also spent some time talking to some practicing nurses and it really made me feel like I can do this.

Hang in there and Good Luck!
