Returning after an injury

I fell on ice last week and fractured my tailbone, my doctor put me off for my last set and told me to rest up and that it may take 4-6 weeks to heal. I'm scheduled to go back in two days but I've been in so much pain I don't see how I can make it through. I work in L&D and the unit is always so busy I feel pressure to go back early but I also feel like I need more time off. I've been working there less than a year and the unit has a temporary manager from another unit that's been helping out. When I contacted her about my fall I never heard back and I feel there could be a lack of support for me to be off longer.....advice??

I broke my tailbone Christmas Day last year. I have chronic pain, at times severe and it's been almost a year.

Good luck with everything. I find though that the more I stand the better it is. My problem is I'm in the car 3+ hr a day & in the classroom 6+ hr a day. Too much sitting, but not much I can do about it right now.

Get a coccyx pillow, it was a life saver for me, my pain came to a head in August when I started drastically sitting for longer periods and I finally got the pillow and its been more tolerable.
