Restraints order

I am currently reviewing for Boards,using Hurst review and Kaplan strategies book.I am now confused about a few things,my main issue is to do with restraints order.Hurst is saying "restraint order needs updating every four hours." Kaplan,on the other hand,is saying "every 24 hours." :confused:

Does anyone know which information is correct? I know that you have to keep assessing to determine if restraint is still needed.What I don't know is how often the physician has to renew the order. I was thinking that 24 hours would be too long,but I'm really not sure.

    Behavioral restraint (psych) orders are limited to every 4 hours. Med-Surg restraint (ex: some patients on vents) orders are limited to 24 hours.
