I am currently a CNA. I was planning on putting my two-week notice in to the hospital I work. However, I am currently sick and have had to call out for my shifts. I live about an hour away from the hospital, and am trying to figure out how I can give my notice. Is email acceptable, if sick all week? And yes, it has to be this week.

Snail mail, certified, return receipt requested. Also, by email. Duplicate what the snail letter says and maybe include a reason for not submitting in person (illness). If you really want to cover yourself, also call and speak to your immediate supervisor to reinforce your last date worked and to prevent any possibility that your personnel folder gets a "no call, no show" placed inside it. You can't be too careful when watching out for your own interests.

In every position I've held, an email would not be an acceptable form of resignation and it's not professional.
I had one job where I put in my 2 weeks notice in person to my DON, but was still marked as not eligible for rehire because I never officially submitted my resignation to Hr in writing.
Your best bet is to call HR and find out what their policy is for resigning and follow that.

Like everybody else has said, I would turn it in more than one way. Certified mail to HR as well as an email to HR and your supervisor should suffice.
