Require laptop purchase

Does the nursing school you are trying to get into require you to buy a laptop from them?

Mine does, we have 2 choices. I already own a laptop so I'm confused as to why I need to buy theirs specifically!

I've never heard of that before. We are requires to have a computer with acceptable windows programs but I've never heard of a school requiring their laptop specifically. I'd call them If I were you.

The one school includes the cost in tuition it included Microsoft office, certain text book linked programs, other relevant programs and a wifi key card to access the secure wifi network at the school. Another school issues iPads with cases & keyboards. Certain texts are loaded on the iPad in iBooks, nursing central, and a number of other paid apps like Pages are all preloaded. Again included in tuition & fees

Why not ask the school why you must buy theirs?

Because I have and haven't recieved a response yet.

You'd be shocked at the number of members who respond. " I never thought to contact the school".

One if the schools explains the why on their website if you look hard enough , though I think it should be obvious. The iPad I can understand. I think if a student has a laptop that is at least the minimum requirements as the one school is selling then they should be able to opt out if the computer and be able to purchase the needed software or equipment. But then again that would make sense. ;)

Yeah, they replied now and pretty much just copy and pasted what the website said which wasn't helpful at all. Because it doesn't answer the questions of "Why?"

Honestly, I don't care, I'm due for an upgrade. It's my husband who is throwing a fit about it. So you think it should be included in the tuition?

I think it's silly, but I'm not sure that it should be included in tuition. Not that it really matters what any of us think.
