remember

I was wondering about youre fav. patient. One patient you think of that made it worthwhile for you to become a nurse.

I remember an obese grumpy patient, who was put on a very strict diet and hospitalized, at Christmas.

He was very angry about this diet. X-mass being his favourite time of year, because of the great food. So he told his family (children and grandchildren) to leave him alone in the hospital in the hollydays. Saying he would'nt be pleasent to anyone, not even his grandchildren. They listend and didn't visit(not even 10 minutes) It was my first working christmas, I was stil a lvn and had a late shift together with nurse *****

who asked to work at x-mass, hating it. She was horrible, grumpy and not at all communitive.

So there was I with a non-speaking nurse and an angry patient, feeling kind of low. Then just when I was thinking about al the other wonderfull job oppertunities in this world, I heard a dark crackling voice starting a x-mass carol. It was the patient with the diet, I went to his room and joined him and even nurse ***** urged a smile on her face and came in to join us.

We had a good time after all!
