Background: male RN with 3 years experience. Mostly PCU about 6 months of SICU exp. Traveled for 1 year as well.
Current situation: have 2 children. Infadelity has occured in my marriage. We want to give it an honest shot but feel only real option is to move and start over.
Plan: Enjoy being a nurse. Enjoy the patints, freedom, and enjoy helping people. What We want is a warm area to move to and what I want is an area where I can make the most possible compared to cost of living so that my wife does not have to work can be with our children after the difficult 6 months we just had. I know money is not everything but in this situation it is fairly important. I was thinking the Houston area. Maybe Kely. Read that you can make upwards of 30 an hour there and possibly with a flex type job even more. What do younguys think. Lowest cost of living compared to pay rate. Actual hospitals with pay would be helpful.
Ps currently from PA and anyplace with really good golf is a plus.
Thank you very much

Hey Mitch,
Good job - it's so much harder dealing with relationship problems instead of just using a 'cut and run' approach. Takes a lot of courage and commitment.
Houston would certainly be a change for you and experienced nurses usually don't have any problems finding a jobs here. Year round golf without worrying about freezing to the ball washer - LOL. We have quite a few public courses with very low green fees also. Some have unusual hazards - playing around the alligator - but I think you would enjoy them.
Salary info changes all the time - the best way to get accurate info is to contact them. Here is a good site with all hospital listings http://www.houstonareaweb.com/hospitals/. I think you probably meant "Katy" as an area in which to live, because we don't have a Kely. Katy schools are very highly rated - the area has a wide variety of housing at very attractive prices.
If you are up for even more adventure, I believe that UTMB in Galveston is still in hiring mode... building up again after hurricane Ike. You may want to contact them also.
My very best wishes to you and your family!!!!
Good luck
