Relocation

Published

Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some advice. I'm considering going back to AZ now that I've completed nursing school and passed boards in FL. I currently have a job here in the NICU, but really would like to go back to AZ. I've posted my resume and have been getting calls from mostly staffing agencies. I don't have enough experience to travel yet, therefore I am not sure of the best way to go about it. Is it a good idea to deal with a staffing company as new nurse or should I focus on trying to get in as a direct hire with a hospital and if so what is the best way to go about that and getting relocation assistance. Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.

Job market is tightening up in AZ - especially for new grads. I'd recommend getting 2 years experience and then trying to move out as an "experienced" nurse.

Thanks for your reply and I certainly understand the two years "experience" that you are referring too. Being a new grad I have plenty of friends and classmates who have moved to a new city and successfully secured jobs as new grads, yes I know job markets are tighter in certain areas, I failed to mention I lived in AZ for nine years so I am pretty familiar with that area and just came to FL for school. I was looking for responses for people in a similar situation as myself or who may be recent grads. Just curious to find out what others have done.

I'm in a very similar circumstance. Graduated from nursing school in December of 07 and moved to California to work immediately upon graduation. Miss Phoenix though and am moving back. I was able to get a job in a great unit at one of the Banner hospitals. Just be patient and keep applying to all the postings that would interest you. Also, try to get the contact information for the hospital's recruiter and contact them by phone personally. Good luck!!
