Relocating

Hi all,

I currently live in SC but my husband is Air Force and is PCSing to Andrews AFB in Maryland in October. I've already began filling out apps and recently got invited to come to DC to meet the staff, managers, and to shadow on the unit and to relocate in July if I get the job, meaning my husband will come in September. So does this mean I have the job?? And if I get the job are they going to reimburse me travel expenses or help me with relocating since basically there will be 2 households we'll be paying for?? Just want your thoughts or experiences. =)

Hi, there. . .welcome to these forums!

You do not have the job until a nurse manager or HR person has actually offered you the job. In addition, although there's a chance that you'll be reimbursed for traveling expenses or receive financial assistance with relocation, I wouldn't count on it in this dismal economy. Many employers have stopped offering perks such as relocation assistance over the past couple of years due to the excessive number of nurses in local job markets across the U.S.

Thanks for your response. & that's true...better not keep my hopes up huh? =]

Having moved from state to state, I have rarely heard of relocation expenses for staff nurses. Occasionally there are small bonuses. But won't the Air Force pay for some of your expenses?

And, no, you don't have the job until you see it in writing.
