Forrest Grove is a little town, kind of near the center of Oregon, right off of I-5...I don't know if there is a hospital there or not...it is about 20-30 minutes (thats a guess) away from Eugene by freeway...the commute probably wouldn't be too bad traffic wise. Don't know too much about the town other than we have stopped there for gas and food. Good luck! Feel free to post/pm me if you have questions.

Forest Grove, OR is closer to Portland than Eugene is. It is about 24 miles west of Portland to be exact. It's a great location...and beautiful, too! I used to live in Beaverton, which isn't too far from there. The closest hospital will probably be Tuality Healthcare. The have a 167-bed hospital in Hillsboro and a 48-bed hospital in Forest Grove. I don't know what area/specialty you are interested in or how long you've been a nurse, but their pay range is $22.85 to $33.90/hr not counting shift diff. The hospitals in Portland pay a little more, but you will have traffic to deal with, which can be a nightmare! The good thing about transportation in the Portland area is that they have Tri-Met, which is a lightrail system. It runs from Hillsboro (which isn't that far from Forest Grove) into Portland, to the airport, etc.

Here's a few more websites that might help you:

Providence has a hospital between Beaverton and Portland called St. Vincent. It it right off the lightrail. Legacy has several hospitals in the Portland area that are either off the lightrail or off the Street Car. OHSU is not on the lightrail, but can get there via bus. Transportation in the Portland metro area is by far superior to anything I was ever used to. I know for sure OHSU is union, but I'm not sure about the others.
