Relationships on the road

Hi!

I'm a fairly new travel nurse...been doing it a year come october. I love it and I cannot see going back to floor nursing...ever. So how does one 30 year old get out there, date, and possibly have a family doing this sort of work? Anyone out there with this sort of expereince? I know it's not competley 'nursing' related but having a family is very important to me. There is no way I'd even consider continuing being a nurse at one hospital. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to quit...and now that I've worked at several I can tell you that it isn't just the hospital that I started at that makes me feel that way. The great thing about travel nursing for me is that I don't have to put up with as much of the political ******** that staying at one hosptial long term requires. Because of that I feel as thought I actually get to spend time on my patients, which is why I became a nurse in the first place.

I have a boyfriend that I love very much, but he is a mason and thus it's not really the kind of job where I could take him along with me and him have work too. I'm just wanting to see how others of you have managed personal life along with travel nursing.

Thank you!

You ask some great questions, but I know several travel nurses that have met someone while traveling. It started with a few of them making friends with other travel nurses, going out, seeing the town, doing things together as friends. I've also seen stories about once they meet that special someone they take them on the road with them. And travel together. Sure the person has to have a flexible job, but it can be done.

Let me know when you figure out "the secret"! I am a single GAY male traveler and I would LOVE to meet another gay male traveler. Frankly, I think Allnurses should have a dating service. I would pay for that!
