Rejection letters

I applied to three Universities and two of those schools, I got rejected. I am still waiting on the last one, which I know I won't get in. I need some opinions of what I should do.

1) Take a year off and work as a nursing assistant to get some experience and reapply to some universities or,

2) Go to a community college for 2 yrs to get RN then transfer to a university to get a BSN

3) Find what ever major that I think I might like and just get a degree in that while still applying to a BSN program.

I will be done with all of my preqs by the end of spring. I am currently attending a University. As you can see, I really want to get into a BSN program. If you were me, what would you guys do? I really don't know what I should do now, I am still devastated as I though I could get into at least one of them.

    Do you know WHY you didn't get in? Because I think that matters a great deal. If you have Cs in pre-requisite classes, you might consider retaking them. Bad entry test score? Low interview score? Lack of experience?

    Get a CNA job in a HOSPITAL and work. LTC is sooooooo repetitive and only learn the very basic skills of a nurse where as in a hospital you will deal with ECGs, vitals, colostomy bags, JPs.... Etc. very helpful info you will learn and will obliterate your 1st semester of nsg school. Good luck to you and keep trying. But I just want to know why didn't you get accepted???

    They don't tell me why. My gpa is a 3.46, I volunteered at 2 hospitals, and one of them, I have stayed there for over 2 yrs. I got my CNA license and did clinical at a nursing home. They don't do interviews. That's why, I don't really know what I should work on. Personal statement? Experience? We don't take test either. Thank you for replying.

    I'm not sure about the programs you applied to, but I know the BSN programs around here have a very competitive GPA to get in. If you don't have a 3.6 or higher, you won't be considered. That's not to say the programs you applied to are the same way. However, it's usually a huge factor if the admissions program doesn't have a points-based system or an entrance test exam (e.g. HESI)

    Also, you said you won't be done with your pre-reqs until spring. While many programs will allow you to apply before you're done with your pre-reqs, many of them won't even consider you unless all the pre-reqs are completed. Do they take apps twice a year or only once a year? If it's twice a year, then apply again after your pre-reqs are done. You can always ask to speak to someone in selective admissions and ask them what you can do to make your application more competitive for the next application cycle.

    If you have to wait another year to apply, you can always work on courses that are applicable towards the BSN (e.g. Chem, Organic Chem, Stats, Pathophysiology, etc.)
