Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into a nursing refresher course?

I am intersted in Broward Community College. I have a BS in nursing but never became licensed. my degree is 12yrs old. I want badly to get back into nursing.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Did you take and pass boards?

If you have never held a nursing license, you probably don't meet the qualifications to enroll in a refresher course. Refresher courses are intended for previously licensed nurses, or nurses who hold active licenses but lack current practice. In order to participate in the clinical portion of a refresher course, you will have to apply for a temporary practice permit, which the BON will not issue to a candidate who has never previously been licensed.

If you've never been licensed, you may need to take and pass NCLEX first, then possibly enroll in a refresher. Check with your state BON.

Good luck!

I agree with the above. I would concentrate on taking NCLEX related review courses and applying to the state to take NCLEX. The only way to get into nursing is to get that RN behind your name. Then you might decided to do a refresher course, or go straight into a new grad program in your first nursing job.

Good luck.
