Redefining yourself

I guess it depends on your degree, what is your passion? Some survivors of both of your illnesses want to give a hand up to those who are treading the waters that the themselves have survived. Health education positions come in many companies and don't require a license. There are tons of Clinical Research companies that hire Coordinators that have no experience and train you. Child And Adult protective services hire Caseworkers with little or no college education. Become a motivational speaker and get on an agenda for companies who want someone to come in and motivate employees. You have a story of falling, getting back up, and wanting to live and be happy and a value to society. Become a Realtor! Fight to get your license back. Become a seamstress and start a business on Etsy or whatever website. People pay ridiculous money for cooking aprons, cute surgical caps, welding hats, you get my point! You can do what you decide. Just start writing down ideas and get started. Ya gonna be busy! Happy for you!

Hi, my name is Carla. 10 years ago I surrendered my nursing license due to drug and alcohol addiction. I'm in recovery now, sober 3 years. I've decided to work on getting my license back. The Mass. board of nursing wants me to have 2 years of documented clean time, which I have. My question is this, can anyone recommend refresher courses,websites,apps. etc. Nursing has changed since I last practiced. And I would love to brush up on my skills before going back to work. Im 49 years old. I live in Ma. My nursing background is in long term care, home care (both pedi an adult) . Thank you.

Hi Carla. I decided at 2 years sober to get my licensure back and work very hard and did it. I only took what was required online to get up to date. Everything came back quickly and my fear soon subsided. Good luck to you and thank you for your response!
