Really stupid Micro text question...

Published

I'm looking for the book I'm going to use for EC Micro - I've decided I want Tortora - I'm looking on ebay, amazon, alibris, abe, half om - etc...

I don't necessarily want the latest 9th edition -

I'm thinking 8th or 7th would be ok.

So when I search - by ISBN or whatever - I get pages and pages - and some of them are very, very cheap - and yet the titles are the same. Some are the same title but have the word BRIEF after the title - but most all of them have the canned info that is printed in generically about the text...

What does BRIEF mean??? I've looked everywhere for info on this - and I know it must be obvious - but like on one site - they'll state it's the 7th edition with CD but it will be the Microbioloby an Introduction BRIEF - and the starting price is way under $5 in some cases - and then another with the same title with no CD starts at

20 or so.

I'm giving up on finding the best price tonight. I'm tired. Just thought someone with more brain cells might have the easy answer to the difference -

Thanks much!

I don't know what the "brief" means and I'd be careful - though I suppose if you have time you're not risking too much. I'd only buy through one of the bigger storefronts, only from a seller that states the ISBN, and only with a credit card.

You might contact the seller and ask them what the "Brief" means.

Under $5 seems a bit suspicious to me.

i dont know what "brief" means also, but i used that book for my micro class last semester. we needed the 9th edition but i saved a whole lot purchasing the 8th. check out textbooks.com, that is where i got mine from.
