hi guys :)
I'm new to the forum ; and I wanted any insight on the situation I am currently in and how i could go about the whole situation ; any advice will be greatly appreciated :)
thanks in advance !
this is my dilemma ; i am currently pursuing my CNA certificate but i really want to become a CRNA ; i know i have a long way to go but i know i can do it! i wanted to pursue my lpn but i was told by rn's that there was pretty much no point in me getting my lpn license because nowadays hospitals aren't hiring lpns ; so i thought okay ill just pursue my bachelors ; and i was told by a college advisor that i would be able to get my lpn and go straight into getting my bachelors ; but i really want to get into John Hopkins School Of Nursing ; i know i'm capable of doing so but they don't offer an associates they only have bachelor programs and i spoke to the advisor from( a previous school i visited) that told me i could pursue my lpn and go straight to my bachelor's that one of his recently graduated lpns did get into JHU ; but i'm not sure if thats because she has her lpn or not ; my question is should i pursue my lpn ; or is it really an option to just go straight for my BSN ?

You can go straight to a BSN program without any other nursing experience.

All of the LPN's I went to school with for my ADN had to start right at square one with me. They had to take all of the same classes and earn all 72 credits just like everyone else. Their LPN status had absolutely zero bearing on weather or not they were accepted into our program...
*I love LPN's, their skill and knowledge are incredibly valuable to me as a new RN, but bottom line, if your goal is to become an RN go for it. The only benefit of earning your LPN first is that you could then work and gain some experience while pursuing your RN requirements.

I am pretty sure the only benefit of becoming an LPN first is that you will be able to work as an LPN while in school. You will still need to complete all pre-reqs that are required for any ASN or BSN program. Good luck!
