Re: New to allnurses.com

Hello to All,

I have been flirting with the idea of becoming an LPN for a long time. In the meantime I became a Paralegal. Jobs are scarce in this field. Very particular pickings on the part of the attorneys. The desire to become a nurse is still there though, and won't go away. I can start school in January 2008, and complete it in one year. But now I am 46, is it too late? The course is $15,000.00. It would put us in debt again for school for me. My husband wants me to be happy, but I think he is tired. What should I do?

:welcome:No, I don't think 46 is too old. This topic comes up quite a bit, and it seems people of all ages are going into nursing. And while it's not fun to be in debt, many organizations will help new nurses pay off student loans.

If you haven't already, I would do some more research into nursing before coming to any firm conclusion. Good luck!

Oh my gosh Im almost like you. I have a 2 year degree in Paralegal Studies that I completed 2 years ago and still I haven't worked in a legal setting. I currently going for RN and hope to one day use both my degrees to be a legal nurse. I think you should go for it. And you are only as old as you feel.
