I admitted a 37.3 weeker a few days ago who was born with a vesicular rash. My first thought upon seeing him was ckn pox. They covered head to toe, all superficial though. Obviously they were ruptured during the drying process. This kid eveyone stumped. (we put the temp probe on the sole of his foot, one of the only places where there were not any lesions!) We ran every test know to man.
Today they diagnosed the kid with Langerhans Histocytosis. The dermatologist was kinda supprised, he said that he has never seen a case in an infant under 28 days, and that he has not found any "just born" newborns with an active case.
I was just wondering if anyone has seen this in their unit?
