75 questions, last one wrong 8(

Published

Hi!

I did the NCLEX-RN this morning. I think I was well prepared. I felt confident during the test. But when the test stopped after question 75, I had the feeling that it wasn't enough... and I knew that I had the last answer wrong. I don't think it's a good thing to end the test with a wrong answer 8( So I was 100% sure that I failed...

I drove back home, thinking that I would have to study again and give it another try after this summer. That's so disappointing!

But then, I started to think about the "tryout" questions... does someone know how many experimental questions we're supposed to have during the test?

Also, I read about the PVT... I know that it's better to wait 24h, but that's a long wait!! I did it, I put a wrong expiration date, and I had the good pop-up! I'll try it again tomorrow.

Hope I'll pass ;-)

Good Luck. There are 15 questions that are not counted (I forget what they are called).

Congratulations New RN, Last question doesn't mean a hill of beans it's what you were able to accomplish before your 75 question. On my exam my last question was a sata that I know I got wrong and I passed. There are 15 questions that are used for next series of exams that doesn't count towards your score. Congrats!!

Getting the 75th question right or wrong does not determine if you passed or failed. Question 75 could have been a beta question or you could have been above the pass line that a wrong answer on question 75 still kept you above the pass line. You need to stop focusing on the relevance of the last question.

There are only two reasons that it stops after 75 questions:

1 You did so terrible on the test that the computer determined that you are not competent after 75 questions.

2 You did very well on the test that the computer determined that you are competent to be a nurse after 75 questions.

Did you do very well in a nursing school with a high NCLEX pass rate? or did you barely pass nursing school at a school with a low NCLEX pass rate?

Thank you all for your answers!

I could see my name as a registered nurse on the website of the Board last Wednesday, and I received all my official papers yesterday, so only 8 days after I did the test!!! I'm sooooooo happy 8)
