question about taking the NCLEX in CA

let say if I go to a non accredited nursing school for RN in Florida that is approved by Florida board of nursing.. but will I be able to take the NCLEX exam in CA? or does it have to be a accredited school if I want to take the exam in CA? thanks

https://www.RN.ca.gov/applicants/lic-exam.shtml

Scroll to "Licensure by Examination Instructions" and download the packet.

Under VIII, see "Section 2736 of the Business and Professions Code states that applicants must have satisfactorily completed instruction in an accredited school of professional nursing that meets California's educational requirements."

California requires that you apply for a license to get an authorization to test, though. You may be able to receive authorization to test from another state, then go to any testing center you choose, as NCLEX is the same everywhere.

You won't be able to "transfer" your license to California, though. You'll still have to meet their requirements if that's where you're hoping to work.
