Is shadowing a CRNA a requirement for admissions?

Many schools do require it but even if the school does not- don't you think it would be a good idea to see more about the career ?????:)

Not technically, but virtually all schools want to hear that you've shadowed because they want to know that you know what you're getting into. You should want that too. I think I was asked at each of my interviews about my shadowing experiences---and they wanted details--including names---I wouldn't be surprised if they called some of those CRNA's to verify.

i am asking just to get info., not to avoid a requirement.

how does one go about getting this experience? just randomly call crna's? i would imagine most are not open to the idea. how does the school know you actually did this? do you need to get a letter from that crna? how many hours should you shadow a crna?

The easiest way is at your place of employment provided they use CRNA's. If you know anyone in the OR, they can probably hook you up. If you don't have any connection, it will be much harder. I made some cold calls to other facilities and was turned down--because I already had an opportunity at my own job--or so they said. But I do think they would have let me otherwise.
