question for Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

what are the chances for me to get a green card as a Canadian RN working in GA? I am here on a TN my husband is going back and forth. I really wish he could stay here and work however, for him to do so my only option is a green card.

what are my chances if I get a hospital to help me?

ps. I wrote a post re my TN renewal, can you give me advice on that as well. thanks

Right now there is the retrogression in place, so there is no way that you are going to get a green card in the near future. And to get petitioned for the green card, requires an employer start the process for you.

But with no visas being available and a long wait for those that got in on the process last summer, it is going to be several years at the earliest.

If you are getting ready to renew your TN Visa, it means that you were in the US last summer, specifically July/August. And if so, why did you not get the petition submitted then when you were able to do so? That would have been your chance to do it and he could have had the EAD that would permit him to work already. But nothing can be done at this time now as the US government is not accepting the I-485 at this time.

All of my friends that have the TN Visa always go home to get them renewed, they get their visit in then.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for answering me so quickly,

Yes I was in the U.S since July however I was not aware of the open window for the visa. The HR dept at the hospital offered to help however about two weeks later that entire dept was let go from the hospital. The new staff that came in no longer wanted to help with the process.

Since then I have been trying to fine another way to get the GC. I suppose I might have to think about going back home if things don't change before my visa screen is up.

thanks again,

P.S I guess a visit home is in order.

Right now there is no other way to get the green card, we are under the retrogression.
